Yay, finally Manchos dream come true: we are going to Queenstown! Home of beautiful scenery and all the adventure and kickass activities anyone can wish for. Not that we have done any of them! But our arrival was promising: after check in at the least charming campsite so far, we took a scenic walk by… Continue reading From Omarama to Queenstown

From Oamaru to Omarama hot tubs
Apart from the dentist (which was the most delightful dentist visit I have ever experienced!) we have not seen much of Christchurch but hit the road again in the afternoon. It was time to go and see the penguins in Oamaru. And they get out of the water at dawn, after a long day of… Continue reading From Oamaru to Omarama hot tubs
From Hanmer Springs to Christchurch
After half a day in the wounderful but very smelly hot springs we decided to move on towards Oamaru- where we were going to see penguins!! But a very painful tooth slowed the journey down- and we ended up in a random campsite 9k east of Christchurch, close to a beach though. Charming at night,… Continue reading From Hanmer Springs to Christchurch
Abel Tasman to Hanmer Springs
Actualy, we should be on our way to the glaciers on the westcoast, but we need to constantly drive away from the bad weather- so change of plans! Heading east instead, towards Christchurch via Hanmer Springs.
Abel Tasman National Park
So glad to be here for more than 1 night for a change! We decide to go on a track from Totaranui to Seperation point. Well, we managed 3 quarters, the exhaustion does not agree with a 5 hours fast pace up and down the hill exercise. But what we have seen, is totally worth… Continue reading Abel Tasman National Park
From Anakiwa to Abel Tasman National Park
That was one dramatic drive! Cloudy, rainy, sunny, extreme fog and a long windy gravel road that seems to lead to nowhere but finaly dropped us off at paradise: the scenic camp ground of Abel Tasman national park. We only realized the beautiful views we missed because of the fog on the way back, when… Continue reading From Anakiwa to Abel Tasman National Park
Malborough Sounds – from Picton to Anakiwa
In Picton, we hit the i-site and arranged for a place to stay in Anakiwa, and a kayak tour on the Sounds- No rest there! We didn’t realize how close we were to the Queens Charlotte track until the next day. The drive to Anakiwa was just beautiful, with a quick stop at Shakespeare bay.
NZ Ferry ride – Wellington to Picton
We arrived super late last night- after 10.5 hpurs of driving, in between jetlag and red bull and the ever changing countryside, we finally found our first camping ground close to Wellington. The capital and the city famous for 2 things during our holidays: 1. We have never seen it. 2. I involuntarily said “Wellington”… Continue reading NZ Ferry ride – Wellington to Picton
