Apart from the dentist (which was the most delightful dentist visit I have ever experienced!) we have not seen much of Christchurch but hit the road again in the afternoon. It was time to go and see the penguins in Oamaru. And they get out of the water at dawn, after a long day of fishing. We just managed to arrive on time and saw the flock coming out of the water and waddling to their shelters. On the next day we strolled around the picturesque small town, bought some amazing blueberries and started our little “pilot” to go to Omarama, famous only for it’s hot tubs – that being a good pitstop on the way to Queenstown, which was our next big destination.
